Peppol and E-invoicing: What JD Edwards Users Need to Know Before 2026

The deadline is approaching fast: from January 1, 2026, e-invoicing via Peppol will be mandatory in Belgium. For JD Edwards users, this is the moment to act. But what exactly is changing? And how can you prepare your organization?
What is Peppol?
Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is the European standard for the secure and uniform exchange of electronic documents such as invoices. The network ensures invoices can be processed automatically, without the need to send PDFs by email or enter data manually. That makes Peppol a key step in the digitalization of B2B processes across Europe.
The new requirements
Belgium is taking the lead, but the impact is international. From 2026, all VAT-registered companies with a Belgian VAT number must send and receive invoices via Peppol. Sending PDF invoices by email will no longer be allowed.
Other countries—including Romania, Poland, France, and Germany—have announced similar regulations. The European Union’s goal is clear: by 2028, e-invoicing should be the standard across Europe. Companies that only serve consumers are not required to send invoices via Peppol, but they must be able to receive them.
What does this mean for JD Edwards users?
For organizations running JD Edwards, the message is simple: compliance is not optional. At the same time, these changes bring real benefits. Automation saves time and costs, reduces errors, makes fraud harder, and in some countries will even simplify tax reporting—since invoices will already be validated by the tax authorities.
